An education
written for
those who lead.

A part-time degree and a series of short leadership intensives, conducted in the quiet company of senior practitioners. Reading, dialogue, and consequence — in equal measure.

Four Movements of Study

I
Michaelmas Term

The Architecture of Judgement

We begin not with answers but with the disciplines of decision: probability under uncertainty, the ethics of consequence, and the quiet authority of those who decide well. A grounding in the reasoning that distinguishes a manager from a leader.

II
Hilary Term

Capital, Risk & Stewardship

The instruments of finance examined as instruments of trust. Students model the allocation of scarce resource across competing futures, and confront the obligations that accompany the command of another's capital.

III
Trinity Term

The Conduct of Organisations

How institutions remember, learn, and fail. A study of culture, incentive and design — read through case, conversation and the lived testimony of those who have governed at scale.

IV
The Residency

Leadership in Residence

A closing fortnight at the College, conducted entirely in seminar. Each candidate defends a thesis of practice before faculty and peers — the culmination of two years of disciplined attention.

The Examined Practice

For three decades Alistair Vane advised governments and boards through the quiet crises that never reached the press. He came to teaching late, and reluctantly, convinced that the truest lessons of leadership cannot be lectured — only rehearsed in the company of equals.

“A decision is the most honest sentence a leader ever writes.”

His seminars are deliberately small. Students arrive expecting frameworks and leave with something harder to name — a sharpened instinct for the moment at which deliberation must end and responsibility begin.

On Reading the Room

Dame Cecilia Hartford spent her career at the intersection of capital and conscience, restructuring institutions that others had given up for lost. She teaches negotiation as a literary art — the careful reading of what is said, and the closer reading of what is withheld.

“Authority is not seized. It is conceded, slowly, by those who choose to listen.”

Her intensives draw chief executives back to the College year after year — not for credential, but for the rare discipline of being questioned by someone wholly unimpressed by rank.

The Measure of It

Within a year of completion, 84% of our graduates had assumed broader command, commanding a median uplift of $140k in remuneration, while the value of the networks they entered compounded, on average, 3.2× over the five years that followed.

Admission

“For those prepared
to lead the dialogue.”
