Genuinely surprised. The pods are properly built and you keep real privacy even in a room of six — two USB ports and a socket, a reading light, a shelf. Towel, sheets, pillow and blanket were all laid out, and the locker swallowed a 60-litre pack. Everyone I met, staff and guests, was kind, and the floor went quiet after eleven without anyone having to ask.
Nothing serious. A hostel is not a hotel, and quiet hours only go so far when the person in pod 3 packs at five in the morning.
Thank you for staying with us, Aveline — the night porter says hello and the pod-3 early riser has been spoken to. Safe travels until next time.
Two minutes from Lantern Quay and a block from the Ridgeline tram, so getting across the city took no planning at all. Half the building is being refurbished, which meant everything smelled new and the shared kitchen was spotless. Staff were warm and professional, and they handed out ear plugs and eye masks at check-in — my corner stayed quiet all three nights.
The refurbishment means layouts keep moving. While I was there the only bin on the floor sat inside the single-occupancy bathroom, which made a small queue at the worst possible hour.
