Studio
Ashvale was formed in 2016 by a group of scenographers, lighting technicians and programmers who believed a room ought to notice the people standing in it. Our core system, Ashvale Field, moves slow washes of light and projected grain across architectural surfaces — tuned by occupancy, weather and the hour of the day, so a hall reads one way at breakfast and another at closing.
The system is built to be handed over. Ashvale Field runs on ordinary DMX and networked fixtures, and it is installed today in transit halls, reading rooms, hotel lobbies and two civic squares across nine countries. Ashvale was named studio of the year by the Nordheim Design Council in 2023.
