Working at Neapford
If you want colleagues who push you, problems that resist a first answer, and work that people depend on in the field, this is a reasonable place to start looking.
Neapford builds the operations layer for organisations whose work happens outdoors and off the network: crews, vessels, depots, and the people routing them. We turn scattered field readings into a single record that holds up under audit.
Hiring can turn into a one-way inspection, which serves nobody well. We want a real read on you, and you on us — so here is the shape of a normal loop, though a handful of roles run one stage longer or shorter than what follows.
A call with someone from talent, then with the person you would report to. We cover what you are after, what the role actually involves on a Tuesday, and whether the two line up. Bring your questions about the team and the roadmap.
Whichever fits the discipline better. Either way it mirrors real work rather than puzzles: a scoped problem drawn from something we have actually had to solve, sized to a couple of hours, and reviewed with you afterwards line by line.
Three to five conversations with the team you would join, plus a partner or two from outside it. You get the names, the format and the subject of every session in advance, because the point is to see your work and not your composure under surprise.
Most of the hard parts get solved standing at a whiteboard, not in a thread. Three days a week we gather in Bristol, Rotterdam, Halifax or Lisbon, and the rest of the week is yours to arrange — nobody here counts hours, only what lands.
The part that isn't salary.
Medical, dental, optical and income protection, on plans you choose yourself rather than inherit from us on day one.
Kitchens stocked all day and a proper cooked lunch on every office day, made by people we employ directly rather than contract out.
Two paid days a year for causes with nothing to do with us: a river trust, a shelter, a school, whatever you already back.
Twenty-six weeks of leave for any new parent however the child arrives, fertility and adoption cover up to £12,500, and gender-affirming care on every plan.
Take the days you need; there is no allowance to count down. After four years everyone takes a paid six-week break, and we do mean six.
Every office is dog-friendly, and there is already a bed under most of the desks.
Pension contributions matched to 7.5%, vested from your first month.
A yearly stipend for whatever keeps you upright: a gym, a therapist, a bike, or a season of lessons in something unrelated to work.
