Payments
Can I pay in crypto?

Yes, we accept Bitcoin. Right now that runs through the Rill plugin on our storefront, which supports instant-channel payments only. Direct on-chain settlement is something we’re working on for later this year.

Can I get a discount code?

We run one student and educator discount and nothing else. Write to support with proof of enrolment and we’ll send a code the same week.

Does Quill take care of VAT?

For most of Europe, yes — VAT is collected at checkout and remitted for you, so nothing is owed on delivery.

Policies
What is the warranty on the Q1?

Two years from the delivery date, covering manufacturing defects and screen faults that aren’t caused by impact.

What is your return policy?

Send it back within 45 days for a full refund. We only ask that the stylus and cable come back in the box.

Shipping
Where do you ship?

Currently 43 countries across North America, Europe, and Australasia. If yours isn’t on the checkout list, tell us and we’ll look into it.

Do you ship to U.S. PO boxes?

We can, though the carrier requires a signature, so a street address usually arrives a day or two sooner.

How much is shipping?

Free within the contiguous U.S. Elsewhere it’s calculated at checkout and generally lands between $18 and $34.

How can I edit my billing or shipping address?

Anytime before the label is printed — reply to your order confirmation and we’ll change it by hand.

Device

Accessories
Do you have any cases available?

Two: a waxed-canvas folio and a slim felt sleeve. Both are cut to leave the stylus dock clear.

Does the Q1 come with a keyboard?

Not in the box. Any Bluetooth or USB-C keyboard will pair, and our own folio keyboard ships separately.

Does the Q1 come with a stand?

The folio case folds into a stand at two angles. A separate aluminium desk stand is available as well.

Connectivity
Can I use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi?

Yes, with a USB-C to Ethernet adapter. The device will prefer the wired link whenever it’s connected.

How many devices can I pair with the tablet via Bluetooth or a wired connection?

Up to seven remembered Bluetooth devices, three of them connected at once, plus anything on the USB-C port.

How do I use the tablet as a laptop display, mirror, or second screen?

Install the desktop helper app, then connect over USB-C or the local network. Mirroring and extending are both supported.

Is there a 3.5mm audio jack?

There is, on the top edge, and it runs off a dedicated amplifier rather than the USB-C port.

Can I connect a wired mouse and keyboard with a splitter through the USB-C port?

Yes — any powered USB-C hub works, and the port will keep charging the device while they’re plugged in.

Can I hardwire it to a printer?

Most USB class-compliant printers are recognised without a driver. Network printing works over the local Wi-Fi too.

Does the Q1 work with web cameras?

External USB cameras are supported for calls. There’s no camera built into the device, by design.

Specs
Is it possible to order the Q1 with a grounded plug type?

Choose your region at checkout and the matching plug is packed with the charger.

Does the tablet have a microphone?

One, with a hardware switch on the left edge that physically cuts the circuit.

What is the storage capacity of the Quill Computer?

128 GB on board, plus a microSD slot that takes cards up to 1 TB.

Is the Q1 waterproof? What’s the water resistance rating?

It’s rated IPX4 — fine in drizzle or a splash at the sink, not made for submersion.

What are the dimensions of the Q1?

232 × 168 × 7.4 mm, and 402 g with the back cover on.

What is the anticipated lifespan of the device?

We design for eight years of daily use and commit to parts and software updates for at least that long.

What temperature limits can the Q1 safely operate in?

0 °C to 42 °C in use, and −18 °C to 55 °C in storage. The screen refreshes more slowly near the cold end.

What are the full specs?

The complete sheet lives on the product page, including panel, radio, and battery detail.

Does the tablet emit lower EMF than a mainstream glass tablet?

Measured at 30 cm it sits well under the common comparison devices, and every radio can be switched off in hardware.

How is the Q1 different from a standard e-reader?

It refreshes fast enough to scroll and write on, runs full applications, and isn’t tied to one bookstore.

Display
Does the Q1 use e-paper display technology?

It uses a reflective transflective panel rather than classic e-paper, which is what lets it hold 60 Hz.

How durable is the screen, and can I use third-party EMR pens with a ceramic tip?

The surface is a hardened resin layer that takes ceramic nibs happily. Most EMR pens are recognised straight away.

What is DC dimming and why is it easier on the eyes than PWM?

DC dimming lowers brightness by reducing current instead of flickering the backlight thousands of times a second.

What is the screen resolution?

1856 × 1392 at 187 ppi, with a 60 Hz refresh across the whole panel.

What is the amber backlight?

A second set of LEDs with no blue output at all, so late reading doesn’t shift your body clock.

Are pixels stable on static content?

They are. A page left open overnight shows no ghosting and draws almost nothing from the battery.

Battery
What is the battery capacity of the Q1?

7,600 mAh, charging to 80 percent in a little under an hour.

What is battery life like in daily use?

Around 17 hours of reading and writing with the backlight low, or roughly six days for lighter use.

Hardware
Does the Q1 have physical buttons?

Power, two page keys, and the microphone cut-off switch. Everything else is on screen.

What kind of processor does the Q1 have?

An eight-core ARM chip paired with 8 GB of memory, tuned for low idle draw rather than peak scores.

Reparability
Do you have plans for upgradeability or recycling?

The mainboard is socketed for a future upgrade, and we take any Q1 back for refurbishment or recycling.

Is the battery user-replaceable?

Yes, with four screws and the pull tab. Replacements are $39 with a guide in the box.

Is the screen repairable?

The panel is a single module you can order and swap at home in about twenty minutes.

Stylus
Does the stylus feature an eraser function?

Flip it over and the flat end erases, the way a pencil does.

How long will the stylus nibs last?

Roughly nine months of daily notes for most people. Five spares are taped inside the lid of the box.

Does the stylus support pressure and tilt sensitivity?

4,096 pressure levels and full tilt, with no battery to charge.
