How do I connect with an outside company?
Invite anyone outside your company to share a room in Alcove. Or skip rooms for now and send an invitation to trade direct messages — exactly as you would with a colleague.

What are some good practices for rooms?
Name rooms with a consistent prefix — #proj-, #team-, #help- — so people can guess where a conversation lives. Write a one-line purpose in the topic, pin the three documents that matter, and archive a room the week its work ends.
Can I turn an existing room into a shared one?
Yes. An owner or workspace admin can convert an open or closed room into a shared room from the room details panel. History stays intact, and the other organisation only sees messages from the moment they accept.
What's the difference between a group message and a room?
Group messages are quick and closed — they cap at nine people, can't be renamed and don't carry a searchable topic. Rooms are built to outlive the conversation: they can be joined, renamed, archived and searched, and anyone who joins later inherits the whole record.
