Atlantic Threshold
Hosted by Salteira Comporta
October 6–11, 2026
Overview
On the open Alentejo coast, where cold Atlantic air and long pine light reset the body's clock, a different kind of gathering takes shape — built for the founders, clinicians and makers working at the edge of longevity.
This five-day immersion, co-hosted by Dr. Marta Sequeira, founder of Halden Rooms, asks you to quiet the nervous system, re-sight your work, and actually practise the rituals we spend our days recommending. No panels. No stage. Elemental practice, unguarded conversation, and the kind of cross-pollination that only happens once the right people step out of their own week.
Move With Intent
Movement here is less about output than alignment — returning strength, range and ease to the body. Through mobility work, load-bearing practice and breath-led sequences, guests are asked to re-inhabit their physical form, shed held tension, and build the kind of energy that carries through a whole day.
Each morning opens with circadian-aligned movement, breathwork on the dune line, and grounding practice that settles the nervous system before the day asks anything of it. Nutrition runs underneath everything: biodynamic meals built around cellular health, metabolic range and cognitive clarity — bitter greens, adaptogenic herbs, ferments drawn from the estate's own cellar.
Days move between restoration and load. Drawing on the Halden Rooms recovery philosophy, the retreat opens up contrast therapy — cedar sauna against Atlantic cold — waking circulation and widening the body's adaptive range. Sunlight and sea salt do their own work on the skin, while herbal compress and cool clay draw out what is left.
As the light goes long, the retreat turns toward reflection. Dinners with longevity researchers and clinicians run into the art of ageing well: fasting, metabolic flexibility, and deep sleep as the most underrated regenerative tool there is. Under the stars, guests take botanical elixirs steeped with nootropic herbs. At Salteira, longevity is not counted in years but in presence, vitality, and the quiet pleasure of a life fully lived.
The Schedule
Before You Arrive
Long before the coast road, the shift has already begun. In the weeks ahead of the retreat, guests receive a Threshold Box — an invitation to slow down, find a rhythm, and start living to the principles of longevity. Everything inside is chosen deliberately: tools to wake the senses, steady the breath, protect sleep, and hand the body back its own intelligence.
Property &
Accommodations
Rest is half of the Salteira method — knowing when to slow down, and when to let a good evening run long. Our Cabanas fold plain, durable design into an unhurried ease: real comfort and real service, a two-minute walk from the fire pit and the long table.

Founder of Halden Rooms
Dr. Marta Sequeira is the founder of Halden Rooms, the first clinic in Europe to treat recovery as a social practice rather than a private one. With six rooms open across Lisbon, Porto and Copenhagen and two more in build, she has spent a decade arguing that the category deserves better design — and the field has started to agree.
Her route in was clinical: eleven years in sports medicine and metabolic care before opening the first Halden room in 2018. What began as a response to burnt-out patients has grown into something broader — in-clinic gatherings, off-site programmes, a small product line, and an open education arm. In 2024 she published The Nine Rooms, a free framework mapping recovery across nine domains of daily life.
Beyond the clinics, Dr. Sequeira writes, teaches and advises. Her work has run in Loamfield, The Coastal Review and Corrente Weekly, alongside keynotes for Northline Air, Perrin & Vale and The Longevity Assembly. She consults with Aster House and Founders’ Circle on how rest gets designed into a building rather than bolted onto it.
What to Know
Arrival / Departure
Guests should reach Salteira Comporta by mid-afternoon on October 6, 2026, leaving time for the soft-landing rituals and the opening ceremony. Departure follows morning programming on October 11. Detailed guidance arrives post-booking; transfers to and from the airport are included.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes. Participation requires comprehensive travel insurance covering delays, cancellation and unexpected health events. Guests booking from outside the EU often use a provider such as Wayfarer Cover, though any equivalent policy is fine.
Cancellation
Given the intimate scale of the retreat, all reservations are non-refundable. We strongly encourage guests to hold insurance that covers unexpected change — it protects your plans and lets us keep the guest experience whole.
Who is this retreat designed for?
Atlantic Threshold is for people after more than rest. Whether you are already deep in longevity practice or only starting to look at regenerative living, the week is built for those who take vitality, attention and renewal seriously.
What to bring
Pack with intention and lightly. Breathable natural fabrics for warm days and cool evenings, shoes you can walk the dunes in, a swimsuit for the cold plunges, and one warm layer for post-sunset practice. Bring a notebook, any personal supplements, and an open mind — tools, meals and essentials are provided.
Are private treatments available?
Yes. Alongside the group sessions, guests can book from a short menu of personalised therapies: contrast work, bodywork and regenerative treatments. Some carry an additional cost and can be reserved in advance or on arrival.
