Create a Vault Password and store your Recovery Phrase

Basalt keeps your files under zero-knowledge encryption. Keys are generated on your own device, so nobody at Basalt — and nobody we host with — can read what you upload.

If you forget your Vault Password, the Recovery Phrase is the only way back in. Without the Recovery Phrase we cannot restore access to your vault, and everything stored inside may be lost for good.

Write the phrase down on paper, or keep it in a password manager you already trust.

Use at least 10 characters

I understand that if I lose my Vault Password and Recovery Phrase, neither can be reset, and Basalt has no ability or obligation to recover access to my files.
