What to expect
The riverside quarter of Porto worked for a living long before it worked for visitors — coopers, sail-makers and fish sellers filled the lanes that now hold wine cellars and terrace tables. This three-hour guided walk follows that shift street by street: the guild workshops still tucked into Miragaia, the tiled façades that went up when money came back from Brazil, and the granite stairways of Barredo that were half-abandoned in the 1970s and are being patched back together today.
You'll start at the Ribeira quay, climb toward Vitória for the rooftop view most people photograph from below, and finish with a coffee ordered the way locals do it. Groups are capped at fourteen, so there is room to ask questions and to stray a few metres off the route when a doorway or a doorbell tile catches your eye.
