Questions We Get Often

Looked after properly, these pieces outlast the rooms they were made for. What follows is what you need to choose the right ones, and to keep the ordering and the upkeep from becoming a project of their own.

If something here does not cover it, or your question is specific to an order, write to us at studio@cinderandreed.com.

We work in four materials and no more: bronze, aluminium, alabaster, and stoneware. Each is shaped by the method that suits it, then left honest enough to show where a hand has been.

Bronze

Our bronze ships unlacquered, so it darkens unevenly with handling.

Aluminium

Aluminium is wet-coated rather than powder-coated, which holds colour far more precisely and keeps the part light.

Alabaster

Each alabaster shade is cut from a single block, so the veining differs piece to piece and no two diffuse light the same way.

Stoneware

Stoneware bodies are slab-built, thrown, or slip-cast, then left raw or glazed only where we want the grain of the clay to read.
