Questions we hear most often

How many KLV credits are active on the Kelvara grid?

The issuance ceiling for KLV credits is fixed at 4.8 billion. That ceiling keeps settlement predictable for operators who plan capacity years ahead. Not every credit is in circulation today — unlock tranches are released on a published cadence, and the pace of those releases tracks measured grid demand rather than a fixed calendar.

When does the next unlock tranche reach circulation?

Unlock windows open on the first settlement day of each quarter. The size of each tranche, the wallets receiving it and the resulting circulating figure are all posted to the public ledger index before the window opens.

Can I pull circulation figures through the public API?

Yes. The metrics endpoint returns circulating, locked and burned totals as a single signed payload, refreshed every 90 seconds. Read keys are free, rate limited at 120 calls a minute, and require no account.

Why does the Kelvara Assembly steward the Operator Reserve on behalf of node runners?

The Assembly holds the reserve under a mandate ratified by node runners, so that funding decisions survive a change of maintainers. Every disbursement is proposed in public, held for a seven day review, then executed on-chain.

How will the Operator Reserve be spent?

Roughly two thirds underwrites hardware rebates for independent operators in regions with thin coverage. The remainder funds audits, latency research and the grant track that pays maintainers of shared tooling.

What is the Grid Access grant?

A standing allocation that covers a first year of settlement fees for teams building on the grid without outside funding. Applications are read in batches of 40 and answered within three weeks.

What sits inside the Kelvara Labs treasury?

The research treasury holds 7.4% of the ceiling, vesting over six years. It pays for the protocol team, the reference client and the testnet that carries every release before it reaches the grid.
