A unit is drawn whenever Brightkiln renders a frame, transcodes a clip, or runs one of the assisted grading passes. Heavier engines and longer sequences draw more units than a single still, which is why an estimate sits beside the render control before you commit to a job. Your remaining balance and a job-by-job ledger stay visible under Workspace Billing.
Yes. Moving up takes effect the moment you confirm and is prorated against the days already paid for. Moving down or stopping holds until the cycle closes, and any units you have left stay spendable for 30 days after that.
Studios past roughly forty seats usually move onto a negotiated agreement: a fixed annual unit pool, named storage regions, a signed processing addendum, and an onboarding week with one of our production engineers.
Top-ups are available on every paid tier and land in the balance within a minute or two. Packs bought this way never expire while the workspace is active, and they are consumed only after the monthly allowance runs dry.
You do. Everything produced in your workspace — masters, proxies, project files and the settings behind them — belongs to your studio, on every tier including the trial. We claim no licence to resell or republish it.
Sources and renders are encrypted at rest in the region you pick and are never routed into engine training. Deleting a project purges it from live storage at once and from cold backups within 21 days; SOC 2 and GDPR records are available on request.
Write to the studio desk at hello@brightkiln.studio and a producer replies inside one working day. Teams on an annual agreement also get a shared channel and a standing Thursday review slot.
