Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before getting started.

What is Cadenza?

Cadenza is a financial workspace for founders and small teams. It pulls transactions, receipts, invoices, time tracking, and documents into one connected system so you always know where the business stands.

Who is Cadenza for?

Founders, freelancers, and teams under about 20 people who run their own books between quarterly check-ins with an accountant. It is built for people who want clarity, not a full ERP.

Do I need a finance or accounting background to use Cadenza?

No. Everything is written in plain language, and the categories are suggested for you. If you already work with a bookkeeper, you can invite them as a viewer at no extra cost.

How does Cadenza connect to my bank?

Through a regulated account-information provider using read-only access, so balances and transactions sync but nothing can ever be moved. We support 4,100 institutions across 21 countries, and you can revoke a connection from the dashboard at any time.

How do receipts and invoices get into Cadenza?

Forward them to your private inbox address, drop them into the vault, or snap them on mobile. Each document is read, matched to the transaction it belongs to, and filed — you only step in when the match is uncertain.

What does the assistant do?

It answers questions about your own numbers — runway, unpaid invoices, spend by vendor — and drafts the follow-up email when something needs chasing. It reads your workspace only; nothing is used to train anything.

What are the weekly digests?

A short Monday summary of what moved: money in and out, invoices that went overdue, receipts still missing, and how the month is tracking against the last three. You choose the day and who receives it.

Can I create invoices in Cadenza?

Yes — build them from a saved template or from tracked hours, send them in 14 currencies, and let reminders go out on their own. Paid invoices reconcile against the incoming transaction automatically.

Does time tracking flow into invoicing?

It does. Track against a project, then pull any date range straight onto a draft invoice with rates already applied. Non-billable entries stay out of the total but remain in the project report.

Can I export my data?

Any time, in full. Export transactions and reports as CSV, documents as a dated archive, or pull everything through the API. There is no lock-in and no fee to leave.

Is Cadenza secure?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, bank access is read-only, and every workspace supports two-factor authentication and per-seat roles. We hold SOC 2 Type II and are reassessed by an independent auditor each year; GDPR requests are handled within 14 days.

Can I change plans later?

Move up or down whenever you like. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated to the day; downgrades apply at the next renewal so you keep what you already paid for.

Is there a free trial?

Every workspace starts with 21 days of the full product, no card required. If you decide not to continue, the workspace stays readable for 60 days so you can export whatever you need.
