Frequently asked questions
How do I ask about engine tuning and private deployment?
How do I get a sandbox API key?
Create a free account and a sandbox key is issued to your default workspace right away. You will find it under Settings → Keys, and you can rotate it as often as you like.
How do I get a production API key?
Add a billing method to the workspace, then mint a production key from the same Keys page. Production keys are scoped per workspace, so each environment can carry its own.
What’s the difference between a sandbox key and a production key?
Sandbox keys are free, capped at 38 requests per minute, and watermark rendered audio. Production keys are metered, lift the ceiling to 1,240 requests per minute, and return clean masters.
Are there any account limits when I first sign up?
New accounts start with a 90-minute monthly render allowance and a single concurrent job. Both limits lift automatically once a billing method is on file.
What’s the difference between a workspace and a personal account?
A personal account holds your own keys and usage. A workspace pools billing, seats, and audit logs across a team, and lets you grant per-project roles to collaborators.
Which render engine should I pick?
Start with Timbre for general-purpose rendering. Move to Timbre Wide if you need long-form multitrack mixes, or to Fipple when latency under 40 ms matters more than fidelity.
When do I get billed?
Usage is totalled at the end of each calendar month and charged on the 3rd of the next one. Workspaces above $2,400 in monthly usage can move to net-30 invoicing instead.
The endpoint I’m using is billed by frame. What is a frame?
A frame is 512 samples of rendered audio — about 11.6 ms at 44.1 kHz. One minute of stereo output is roughly 10,340 frames, and the dashboard shows a live count while a job runs.
Where do I find pricing for our retired engines?
Retired engines keep their original rates for 18 months after the sunset notice. The full archive lives in the docs under Pricing → Retired engines.
What is the cost for reaching the research-preview engines through the API?
Research-preview engines are free while in preview, capped at 4 hours of rendering per workspace per month. They carry no uptime commitment and can change without notice.
How is a “pass” defined for Harmonize pricing?
One pass is a single call that scores up to 60 candidate takes against your reference track. Sending 180 candidates in one call counts as 3 passes, billed at the same per-pass rate.
