Is there a trial before I pay?
Every new workspace gets 21 days on the Summit feature set with no card on file. When the window closes the workspace drops to Ground rather than switching off.
How is monthly active seat billing counted?
A seat only counts in a month where that person actually opens a connection. Dormant accounts sit on the roster for free, so a quiet month costs less than a busy one.
How do you decide which accounts get a trial and which ones stay on the Solo tier?
Workspaces created against a company domain start the Summit trial automatically. A personal address lands on Solo, and you can request the trial from the workspace settings page at any point.
What counts as business use rather than personal?
If the traffic supports paid work, a client project or a shared production system, treat it as business use. Home labs, side experiments and family devices are personal.
I run my own domain (say, @mylab.dev ) and only use Trellisway at home. Can I opt out of the trial?
Yes. Open the workspace settings, choose Solo, and confirm. Nothing is charged, the trial ends immediately, and your nodes keep their addresses.
How are node limits applied?
Limits are counted per workspace, not per person. Ground carries 96 nodes, Summit carries 340, and a node that has been offline for 45 days stops counting.
What if I need more nodes than my seat count allows, and how is the extra-node rate charged each month?
Extra nodes are $0.40 each per month, added to the same invoice and prorated from the day they join. There is no separate contract and you can release them whenever a project ends.
What do access policy files actually buy me?
They let you write down, in one reviewable file, exactly which groups may reach which services. The file is versioned, so an audit reads as a diff instead of a spreadsheet.
How do policy files differ on Ground versus Summit?
Ground gives you group rules and tags. Summit adds device posture checks, timed grants that expire on their own, and a staging branch you can test before a rule goes live.
Are there reduced rates for schools or registered charities?
Yes, a 60% reduction on Summit for accredited schools, university labs and registered charities. Send proof of status to the accounts desk and the rate is applied to the next invoice.
