Looking out to 2030, most of the shift lands in places people never actually see. The phone gets quieter, and a lot of the work slides off the glass and into the background. Three big ones:

• Ambient handoff — a task you begin on a watch keeps going on the laptop, with nothing exported, emailed or re-typed in between
• On-device models — the heavy lifting runs on the handset itself, so drafts, edits and dictation never have to leave the phone
• Quiet notifications — far fewer badges, and digests that land only when you have asked for them
