About Wind Chill

Wind chill is how cold the air feels on skin once moving air is accounted for.

The stronger the wind, the faster it pulls warmth away from the body. A low wind chill can strip heat from bare skin far quicker than the thermometer alone suggests, which is why the risk of frostbite climbs on gusty afternoons even when the reading looks mild.

Above 30°F: Low Risk
