the founders

Hey there! We're Elias and Priya.

We've been a couple for 14 years and have worked together for 12 of them. Talk about close quarters :-). We love designing and building products that give people a gentler way to understand their own lives and quietly make room for what matters most.

Our first project together was Tallyroot, a personal budgeting service that turned the dreaded question of "where did my money go?" into something calm, clear, and even a little satisfying. After six years, it grew into one of the most-loved money apps on iOS, Android, and Web, and helped more than 4 million people spend with intention, pay down debt, and save for the things they actually cared about. Tallyroot was acquired, which gave us the freedom to chase the ideas we couldn't stop thinking about, carry those lessons into new work, and, ultimately, bring Hearthly into the world!

Journaling kept us steady through the beautiful, stressful chaos of building a company side by side. But every journal we tried (and believe us, we tried them all) felt like a blank room with no warmth in it. So we set out to build a digital journal that feels less like a productivity tool and more like sitting down by a fire at the end of the day, honest, unhurried, and entirely yours.

Hearthly is our attempt to make reflection feel welcoming again, to remove the friction and the guilt, and to leave you with a little more clarity than you had before you opened it. We built it for ourselves first, and we're genuinely grateful you're here to make it yours too.
