3.5⭐ Slow to start and then it had me entirely. Ashcombe writes weather better than anyone working right now, and that middle crossing is the finest stretch of prose I have read all year. The last forty pages loosened the knot a little, but I would still press this one on anyone who likes a book that takes its time arriving anywhere at all, and I have already ordered her earlier one.
