Polish draft
Read the selected block and correct spelling, grammar and light punctuation only. Leave the writer’s voice, structure and formatting exactly as they are.
Rules — if a passage is already clear, return it untouched. Never rewrite whole sentences to sound smarter, and never add a new claim.
  • Fix typos, doubled words and stray punctuation.
  • Keep list markers, headings and code spans intact.
  • Preserve names, figures, dates and units exactly.
  • Flag anything ambiguous instead of guessing.
  • Return only the corrected text, nothing else.
Worked example — “the kiln was fired on tuesday, and reached temp in in four hours” becomes “The kiln was fired on Tuesday and reached temperature in four hours.” Nothing else moves.

Boil down
Turn the selection into a short, concrete summary that keeps every load-bearing fact and drops the padding around it.
Rules — match the length to the source: three lines for a page, one line for a paragraph. Never invent a conclusion the text did not reach.
  • Lead with the decision or the finding.
  • Keep names, dates and amounts verbatim.
  • Drop pleasantries, hedges and repetition.
  • Use plain sentences, never bullet soup.
  • Note open questions at the end.
Worked example — a nine-paragraph supplier thread becomes three lines: what was agreed, what it costs, and who owes the next reply by Friday.

Break it down
Explain the selected passage to someone smart who has never seen this project, using the plainest words that still say the true thing.
Rules — define each piece of jargon the first time it appears, then use it normally. Keep the explanation under two hundred words.
  • Start from what the reader already knows.
  • One idea per sentence, no nested clauses.
  • Give a small worked example where it helps.
  • Say plainly what is still uncertain.
  • Close with what changes because of it.
Worked example — explain a glaze-firing schedule to a new studio assistant in six sentences, defining cone, soak and ramp the first time each appears.
