About identifiers

Identifiers are the values a person can present at sign-in. At least one must stay enabled on every instance.

Turning an identifier off does not delete stored values — existing accounts keep them until you remove the attribute.

Username rules apply to new sign-ups immediately and to existing accounts on their next profile update.
