Packaging Systems Design

Looking for a packaging designer who can build both the label art and the print-side documentation for a small-batch coffee roastery. I roast about 340 kilos a month out of a shared facility in Bellingham, and I'm adding three single-origin blends this spring. Right now every bag looks like it came from a different company.

Deliverables //

Build the packaging system + label art:

a. Define the range architecture — naming, tiering, and how a blend has to read from about six feet away on a shelf.

b. Create a label system covering typography, a color-coding logic across origins, illustration treatment, and back-panel layout.

c. Develop a spec sheet documenting die lines, ink limits, substrate notes, and the print tolerances my converter keeps asking about.

d. Deliver press-ready files for three 340g retail bags plus one 2.3kg wholesale sack, packaged with linked assets and outlined type.

Extend it to the shop:

e. Adapt the system to a 12oz cup sleeve, a bag sticker set, and a single-page wholesale sell sheet.

f. Hand over an editable template so I can spin up seasonal micro-lots without coming back to you for every 40-bag run.

Working style

I'd like two rounds of concepts before we commit to a direction, then a working session every Thursday to keep momentum. I write my own copy, so you won't be on the hook for names or tasting notes — though I'll happily take pushback if something is unprintable at this size.

Please send three or four projects where you owned the production files, not just the mockups. Converter references welcome if you have a shop you like working with on the West Coast.
