Halcyon Type — Creative Strategy Framework
Draft for review — pass to @tobias.oyelaran before Friday.
Halcyon Type’s creative strategy sets the north star for how we show up in the world: the ideas we lead with, the words we choose, and the visuals we ship. It defines our creative direction, tone of voice, and visual guidelines so every touchpoint reads unmistakably Halcyon — assured, type-led, and a little contrary. Use this document to align internal team members and collaborators on how we talk about our brand and our client work across social, campaigns, and long-form content, with plain storytelling and visual clarity as the baseline.
1. Purpose
This document defines the creative foundation behind every output that leaves the studio. It keeps consistency, clarity, and craft steady across all touchpoints — from product interfaces and identity systems through to editorial content and client communication.
Treat it as a working reference rather than a rulebook. When a decision is not covered here, argue it from the principles in section 3 and log the outcome so the next person inherits the reasoning instead of the guesswork.
2. Audience
Designers, writers, and producers inside the studio, plus the 14 freelance collaborators we brief each quarter. Client-side marketing leads are welcome to read it — the second half is written to be shareable without edits.
