Exercise #1
Buttons
Add to basket
Buttons trace back to the physical pushbuttons on radios, lifts and arcade cabinets — press it, something happens, and the shape tells your hand where to press. Screens inherited that promise, which is why a button remains the most direct interactive element in a product.
The label does most of the work. Lead with a verb that names the outcome — Add to basket, Publish draft, Book a slot — so someone can act without reading the paragraph above it. Vague labels like Continue push the decision back onto the reader.
