The hedge-layers keeping a 900-year-old boundary alive
On the Dorset chalk, a crew of eleven works through February with billhook and stake, folding hawthorn back into itself. The line they are mending has been redrawn 34 times since the parish first recorded it. We walked four of its miles at first light.
