Few clarinetists can make a reed sigh the way Marguerite Vance does, an old-soul stylist who has kept the verities of parlor swing intact since she turned up on the circuit in the late seventies. Shortly before wider notice found her, Vance was carrying on with Odell Rimes, the wry guitarist who founded the spirited Gulf Coast outfit the Sandpiper Six and later spent a decade touring with the Delta Marquis. For this welcome stint she reunites with Rimes in a romping group that also includes the cornetist Tobias Kearn. The room, as they say, will rattle.
