The point of this page is narrow: keep every surface we publish sounding like one studio, from the first pitch deck to the final handover.
Studio Identity
Grantsbury pairs restless visual invention with a disciplined production process. We chase an idea hard, then edit it down until only the load-bearing part is left.
Every engagement opens on the same question — what should a person feel in the first four seconds? The answer sets the type, the palette and the pace of everything after it.
Voice
- Direct: we name the trade-off out loud instead of burying it in adjectives.
- Warm: a client should hear a person on the other end, not a process document.
- Curious: we ask the awkward question early, while it is still cheap to answer.
- Plain: if a sentence needs a second read to land, it goes back for another pass.
Visual System
Our visual language holds together across formats because three commitments never move, whatever the medium asks of us:
- Type that carries the hierarchy on its own, without ornament
- A narrow palette, used at full strength or left off the page entirely
- Photography shot on location, lit once, never composited afterwards
- Grids with enough air to survive a translation into any other language
Publishing
We publish on a fortnightly cadence across three surfaces:
- Process notes that show the routes we discarded, not only the one we kept
- Project write-ups that explain the reasoning behind each visible decision
- Short essays on craft, written for whoever inherits the work after us
Treat this page as a reference and as an argument — anyone writing on behalf of Grantsbury should be able to defend a choice using only what is written here.
