Larkfield — background & objectives
Larkfield builds payroll and HR software for small companies, with the aim of making the monthly cycle fast, legible and largely automatic. Roughly 24,000 employers run their payroll on it.
What motivated the assessment
Two schools of thought met in the same room: the classic school of a consultancy engagement, and the in-house school of a short, sharp platform study. Larkfield chose the second, and finished the inventory in five weeks.
Larkfield's plan to cut emissions
Scope 3 turned out to hold 71% of the total — mostly purchased services and hardware. The reduction plan names an owner and a date for each action, rather than a company-wide pledge.
