About Rowen

Come to the table

A dinner turns into an occasion the moment somebody lays it out properly for the people they like most. Warm bread, a full table and decent company is nearly all of it — add one colour nobody expected and the evening gets talked about for years.

Our vision

Nothing beats an evening spent shoulder to shoulder at a table somebody bothered to set. We want to lift the ordinary weeknight meal — in kitchens on every continent, not just the photographed ones.

Our mission

Rowen makes the pieces that carry the meal. Every glaze is mixed in our own workshop in Deventer, so cooks and hosts end up with tableware that has some character to it rather than another white plate.

Our story

Started in 1974 inside the Aldwyn family of tableware makers, Rowen has always run on two things: a stubbornness about form and a soft spot for the people eating off it. Each collection is built to survive a decade of Sunday lunches and still look worth setting out.

For the people and the clay

Rowen stoneware is made with the people who make it in mind. Clay comes from two quarries we visit ourselves, every glaze is lead-free, and everyone along the chain is paid properly and paid on time.

Our core values
