Built for people
who make things

Our vision is a future where every maker can run a real business.

We believe craft deserves better tools. We build software that helps independent studios look established from the first day they open.

2011

Halyard started in a rented darkroom above a bike shop in Portland.

1,284

Halyard has grown into a team of 1,284 people across four studios.

Thousands

Since launch, tens of thousands of independent studios have shipped their work on Halyard.

Recognition

We are grateful to keep earning workplace recognition for being a genuinely good place to build a career.

Our values

01

Be the customer.

Developing real empathy for what our customers need, fear, and hope for is the only way we get this right. We want to hand them the same standard of tools and service we would want on our own worst deadline.

02

Craft is not a luxury.

Good design should not be reserved for the well funded, and we are stubborn about pursuing it in everything we ship.

03

Build the ideal.

We try to shape where this industry goes by imagining and then building the products that ought to exist. That means taking real bets on large ideas, while accepting that anything worth making gets there through constant iteration.

04

Learn fast, act fast.

The shortest path to knowing something, paired with a healthy bias toward doing something, is how we compound. We aim for both at once.

05

Protect the spark.

Ideas arrive from anyone, from anywhere, and they are fragile when they do. They need room to grow before they are judged. We believe the creative process is the whole business, and we defend it as we work out where the product goes next.

06

Simplify.
